In support of the NE14NE1 project, we have allocated space in Charlotte Square for Newcastle’s creatives to shine.
Helix Arts Artist Development Programme, known as Artists’ Agency, provided 12 creatives with the opportunity to enhance their skills and confidence in managing participatory arts projects.
Helix Arts equipped the artists with key skills in creative production, enterprise development, working in regeneration areas, and public art. Throughout the workshops, the artists developed plans for the participatory art projects, aiming to create public artwork and in the final stage pitched their ideas for funding.
Local artists Dan Goodman and Haley successfully pitched their joint project, NE14NE1, and have spent the past few months planning and executing it.
Submissions were open to everyone in the community, artist or not, and everyone who submitted their work had it printed and installed to various spaces in the Creative Central: NCL area of Newcastle.
This type of urban revitalization transforms usual spaces into something more, creating aesthetically unique environments. Involving the community has fostered a celebration of our cultural identity, personal heritage, and raw talent.
This project was funded by Creative Central: NCL with support from the North of Tyne Combined Authority and Newcastle Council.
