WELFARE & WELLBEING
The welfare and wellbeing of our employees, supply chain and the public is fundamental to everything we do. ‘If it isn’t safe we don’t do it’ is a key performance principle and is supported by our first core value of integrity – if in doubt, check it out!
We have developed over the last 20 years, a robust Quality, Environment, Management, Safety (QEMS) System which is ISO 9001 accredited. We take our obligations and duty of care to all those we come into contact with extremely seriously. We actively encourage Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) to be raised to ensure we are continuously improving our systems, processes and procedures. In addition, we are ISO 45001 accredited, which is integrated into our QEMS System and is an extension of our already mature approach to Health and Safety.
The Meldrum Safety Cup which is hotly contested for each quarter as well as our Don’t Walk By scheme which focuses on raising awareness to potential hazards before they become an issue.
All H&S audits are conducted in-house. Our H&S Teams objective is to drive the philosophy of ‘zero harm’ with the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees and all stakeholders being of paramount importance to us.
Of course, H&S does not only cover the physical side but we’re also concerned with the mental health of our employees. We understand that the Construction industry has some of the worst statistics for male suicide.
Our H&S Managers are also Mental Health Advisors and we run drop in sessions and awareness campaigns so all of our employees know who to contact and why … it’s good to talk.
