JDR CABLES
After previous successful work for JDR Cables, Meldrum Civil Engineering were appointed again to upgrade their carousels, used to manufacture subsea cable technology and offshore services connecting the global offshore energy industry.
This site is located at Hartlepool Docks, requiring our team to operate under stringent health, safety, and well-being policies, which we were fully committed to following. Every phase of our work, from removing existing structures to the installation of new components, was conducted with careful adherence to these policies.
For Carousel 5 & 6 – Concrete Slabs, our team began by removing the existing surface and reinforced concrete (RC) beam, exposing the steel reinforcement to prepare for the new installation. Once the area was clear, we set up a temporary stone piling platform to ensure stability during the piling work, which was removed upon completion. We then installed 600mm diameter SFA piles to a depth of 15 meters, positioning them precisely Finally, we completed the concrete slab installation.
For Carousel 2 – Rail Removal, Mounting Plates, and Grout, our approach started with the removal of the existing rail and grout. With that completed, we conducted diamond drilling. Following this, we supplied and installed M20 and M30 studs, each with the necessary nuts and washers. We then positioned the rail mounting and joining plates accurately, creating the foundation for the final fixing, which was carried out Meldrum Fabrication. To finish, we applied grout.
On Carousel 2 – Concrete Motor Plinths, we followed a similar process of removing the existing surface and RC beam to expose the steel reinforcement. With the area prepped, our team set up a temporary stone piling platform, which was removed after the piling stage. We installed 450mm diameter SFA piles to a depth of 15 meter and then installed the concrete motor plinths.
