Project Description

Gateshead College commissioned Meldrum Facilities to upgrade their space with a new automotive engineering and manufacturing workshop, delivered in collaboration with our sister companies, Meldrum Fabrication and Meldrum Fire Engineering.

Space Upgrades and additions:-

• Installation of a full new power and data infrastructure
• Upgraded general, task-specific, and emergency lighting
• Creation of a new structural opening to accommodate glazed screens and partitions
• Supply and installation of steel partitions
• Application of a resin safety floor finish
• Bespoke benching and joinery throughout
• Full redecoration of the space

Meldrum Fire Engineering installed a fire-rated roller shutter, formed a new opening, and reconfigured the blockwork. Meldrum Fabrication supported the works with the installation of a custom steel lintel.

Community Input:-

Surplus steel from the project was donated to the college’s welding division to support sustainability efforts and promote careers in the construction industry.
