Meldrum Construction were appointed main contractor on a new two storey Further Education building for teaching of advanced construction trade skills at Castleford College. The extension of the existing site now has an external deliveries yard, carparking and covered external area for wet trades skills.

Key areas:

Wood workshop: The new wood workshop was designed and delivered as a specialist teaching environment that supports both beginner and advanced joinery skills. This included installation of high capacity dust extraction, durable impact resistant wall finishes, enhanced acoustic separation from adjoining teaching spaces, and integrated power distribution suitable for bench mounted and freestanding woodworking machinery. Clear circulation routes, safety zoning and compliant guarding were incorporated to ensure safe operation for learners and staff, aligned with FE sector best practice.
