Meldrum have been working with the Mary Magdalene Holy Jesus Trust since 2020, enabling the trust to provide housing for older people who are in need or going through hardships & distress. Based in Newcastle and the surrounding area, the trust houses its own applicants and works in partnership with other agencies to provide access to free confidential advice regarding benefits and entitlements.

Meldrum Construction were chosen to lead on the Magdalene Court redevelopment. The proposed scheme briefly comprises of 3 houses designed for families (3 bed, 4 person) and 15 accessible apartment units designed for older persons who live an independent lifestyle (1 bed,2 person).

Each flat is comprised of a bedroom, shower room, and kitchen that flows into the diner with large windows, flooding rooms with light. Whereas each house is made up of a hallway, through to the kitchen, dining and living areas. Up on the first floor are 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, fitted with special access.

Civil Engineering

Meldrum Civil Engineering installed attenuation system for flood defence which included additional excavation deeper than usual to redirect the drainage system. Tarmac and white lining complete the external Landscape.
