EXCHANGE SQUARE

CASE STUDIES

In an attempt to improve the area’s commercial appeal Middlesbrough Council appointed Meldrum Civil and Structural Engineering to refurbish the existing public external area at Exchange Square. The works aim to create a positive first impression of Middlesbrough for those arriving by rail. With perfect timing as the statue of founding father, Henry Bolckow celebrates its 140th birthday.

We’re delighted to be involved in this heritage project. It’s important for us to preserve the history behind our towns as it adds character, and distinctiveness to the place, region or community and hence provides a sense of identity. Heritage preservation projects also support sustainability by wasting fewer resources, therefore lowering our carbon footprint.
