Meldrum Facilities carried out an internal and external refurbishment of a multi-storey historic commercial building for English Heritage. The works consisted of an upgrade to internal services, reconfigured layouts, and the restoration the external façade, while carefully preserving key heritage elements. Works were phased to allow internal and external activities to run concurrently for programme efficiency.

Meldrum are one of the only NFB Heritage approved contractors in the Northeast, making this Grade 1 Listed building the perfect match for our expertise.

Before beginning the works, Meldrum collaborated with English Heritage and Conservation design team to ensure all Historic artifacts were carefully removed, labelled and stored for later reinstatement. During the works, the team were in constant contact with conservation curators to capture and record items of historic interest uncovered during the down takings phase.
